Ask me how I know this.Īgain, we do not know the nature of the skip, so this is rather all speculative. Irregular friction in the sled could also certainly cause a feed motor with a bad spot to hang in one place and yet sail right over another when the dead spot is reached again.
Debris in one tooth of the sled near the inside of the circumference could certainly be the cause, as could several others.
That sled is gear driven, not belt driven. Given your propensity to want to argue, you should at least know what sort of mechanism we are dealing with. I brought it in the house 10 minutes later and it played perfectly on the Sony tray machine? Am I missing something here? Why? My only other theory is that when I place it in the tray, it is not centered? Help!!!! I tried it on my car stereo and on the DVD player, and it again played fine. It was skipping like crazy after that, even worse. That caused a zillion fine scratches an the CD. Here's where it really gets strange.I tried cleaning it with Semichrome polish and a wash cloth, then a final wipe with 70% alcohol.
I have a Sony CDP-C701ES on its way to replace it, but I wonder if it has something to do with it being a 5 disc tray machine or is it the laser inside that is dirty. I thought it was some of the CD's.but they skip on the Sony, but play fine in my car and a DVD/CD player in another room. I always thought it had something to do with vibration from people walking past and it picking up the vibration.so I have mounted huge pieces of foam under it, etc. I own a 1990's Sony CDP-705 5 disc tray CD player that is driving me crazy with its skipping.especially during track 1 playback! I can not figure out why! I have a tall wooden slotted, shelved piece of furniture that it is in along with my amp, cassette player, graphic equalizer, with reel to reel on top, etc.
